The paint detail begins with the first color. A light blue that is the light just behind the mountains.

First color looking toward the back of the theater. You will notice the bands of color are much narrower to the back of the theater. This gives a sense that the light is coming from the front of the theater.

Second color band. I did careful measurements and drew lines so I knew where each band should be.

The bands of colors on opposite walls are the same height and width, but the mountain range's shape differs.

Most of the front wall is black. Actually it is a extremely dark grey. Looks black unless you were to see it against something that is truely black.

The third color in on the walls. This is the darkest blue.

The entire ceiling will also be black. You can see I have "cut in" all the corners of the ceiling.

Ceiling has been painted. This is the point where the charateristic of the room really starts to change.

Here I have started blending the color bands together to give the final effect. This is done by mixing a new paint color that is 1/2 each of the color of the band above and below it.

I then used a paint technique of "scribbling" with a paint brush to blend the colors.

Because the colors of the second and third bands differed more than the others, I had to mix more shades and do additional blending steps to get the look I wanted.

Paint (Screen)

The screen has been painted here. It was a combination of a white base coat and top coat of grey paint with an opalescent base. I rolled it on once I had carefully prepared the underlying wall to a smooth finish. This screen worked well for some time, but was eventually replaced with "real" screen.
