Front Sidewalk

They have cut the stress joints in the front sidewalk.

Front side walk from the other direction.

Driveway

They have the forms up and dumped in pea-fill for this side of the driveway. I wonder just how many tons of pea-fill there is on our lot!

Driveway

They have also cut the stress joints in the driveway apron.

Driveway

Forms are up and the pea-fill already in this side of the driveway. Not sure which section they will pour next.

Back Sidewalk

They have the forms up for the back sidewalk. I really like the shape they did. If they had made it just square, it would have not fit in as well with the porch stuck in the corner.

Paper Rolls

I noticed these paper rolls in the garage when I got there. Wasn't sure what they were for until I went inside.

Floor Covering

They are putting the blank paper--which looks like builder's felt--under the hardwood floor. I think it is to keep the hardwood floor and the subfloor from rubbing together and squeaking. I looked up the "red rosin" paper on the internet. It is to put over the hardwood floor to protect it during the rest of construction.

Primed Walls

The painters have arrived and they are priming the walls.

Primed Walls

They finished priming everything on the first and second floors that they didn't need a tall ladder for.

Primed Walls

Now it is really starting to look like a finished house.

Finishing the Subfloor

They went along every joint in the subflooring and did something to them to make them perfectly even so there are not bumps or ridges. I don't know if they sanded them or what.

Finishing the Subfloor

They then put screws at all the joints and in the field of the subfloor about every six inches. Shouldn't have any squeaks! Tried to get a picture of them. Look real close right down the center of the picture.

Finishing the Subfloor

Another picture of the screws. You can see how close they set them at the joints. I marked some of them with blue arrows. They were easier to see on the full resolution picture, but that picture is too big to upload to the web.

Vents

HVAC crew cut out the last of the vents today. Here you can see three in the sunroom. There is one in the dining room, one in the library, and one in the nook. Electricians are not going to be happy as they cut through one of their wires. Luckily they didn't get any of ours!
